Highlander Exterior vs. Pilot Exterior

While both models conform to the conventional SUV silhouette, the Highlander emerges with a captivating front fascia that commands attention, giving an air of elegance and sophistication. In contrast, the Honda Pilot’s truck-inspired appearance caters less to the allure of an SUV aesthetic and more to the rough-and-tumble outdoors. If sophistication is your go-to, opt for the Highlander. If you don’t mind sacrificing elegance and style for mud and tricky terrain, opt for the Pilot.

Highlander Interior vs. Pilot Interior

The Toyota Highlander boasts a realm of refined cabin materials, including luxurious SofTex and leather upholstery, an unparalleled, maximum-sized 12.3-inch infotainment display, and an available 11-speaker JBL audio system. Meanwhile, the Honda Pilot’s interior may offer clever seating options, but it lacks luxury in comparison to the Highlander. Its smaller infotainment system and Bose audio quality don’t do much to rival the Highlander’s sound and infotainment capabilities. And while the Pilot is slightly larger than the Highlander, both can seat up to 7-8 people, making the difference in size feel trivial.

Powertrain and Performance

The Highlander bids farewell to conventional V-6 engines and introduces a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder powerhouse. With an impressive output of 265 horsepower and a remarkable 309 pound-feet of torque, the Highlander surges ahead of the Honda Pilot, which offers slightly more horsepower, but a lesser 262 pound-feet of torque. Further, the Pilot’s 10-speed automatic transmission design can fall short when it comes to the excitement and driver experience that the Highlander’s smooth transitions provide. Additionally, while the Pilot can do more outdoors with its truck-like DNA, the hybrid powertrain options on the Highlander offer much more in the way of fuel economy.
