Looking for a vehicle that provides you with additional peace of mind? Have you heard about Toyota Safety Sense™? It comes equipped in a wide range of new Toyota models here at Toyota of Morristown and is designed to help protect drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and drivers in other vehicles on New Jersey area roads from harm. This innovation represents a historic milestone in Toyota’s long history of implementing advancements and innovations in the safety department.
What’s Included With Toyota Safety Sense™ P?
Pre-Collision System (PCS)
By utilizing an integrated forward-facing camera and radar system, PCS is designed to help mitigate or avoid a potential collision with another vehicle or pedestrian. When the system detects the possibility of a frontal collision with another vehicle, it prompts its drivers to take action by using an audio and visual alert. If the driver is unable to brake in time, the system may automatically apply the brakes, decreasing speed to help reduce the impact or avoid the collision entirely if possible.
Pedestrian Detection
Much like the Pre-Collision System, under certain daytime conditions, if the Pedestrian Detection System determines that the possibility of a frontal collision with a pedestrian is likely, it prompts the driver to apply the brakes by using an audio and visual alert. If the driver does not act in time, the system has the capability to automatically apply the brakes, reducing speed to help mitigate the impact or avoid the pedestrian collision entirely.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
DRCC is a high-tech cruise control system that uses a radar and a forward-facing camera that is designed to detect a vehicle in front of you and automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed to help maintain a predetermined distance behind a vehicle ahead.
Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
LDA is designed to use an in-vehicle camera to detect lane departure when traveling on relatively straight roads with lane indicators. The system’s operating status is indicated through colored lane marking illustrations on the vehicle’s Multi-Information Display (MID) and if LDA determines that the vehicle is starting to unintentionally deviate from its visibly marked lane, the system will alert its drivers with an audio and visual alert.
Automatic High Beams (AHB)
AHB is a safety system designed to help the driver have better visibility at night – while also reducing glare for oncoming drivers. By using high beams more frequently, the system may allow earlier detection of pedestrians and obstacles. When this convenient safety feature is activated, AHB is designed to rely on an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggle between high and low beams.
